1st Annual BHFF White Bass Tour
Here is the Plan as laid out by Tour Leader (wearing the yellow jersey for several years in a row) Don Polovich:

SATURDAY MAY 21st 2011

9:00 A.M. MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME - MEET A THE BOAT RAMP ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE TAILRACE BELOW LAKE OAHE.
WE'LL ADJUST SCHEDULE DEPENDING ON THE WEATHER.
BEGIN FLOAT AROUND 9:15-9:30 A.M. FLOATERS MAKE THEIR WAY ALONG THE EAST SIDE. CASTING OFF
ROCKY POINTS FOR WHITE BASS. MIGHT ALSO CATCH CARP, SMALLMOUTh BASS, WALLEYES, OR
SKIPJACKS.

AT SOME POINT CROSS THE RIVER TO ECHO POINT.

PICNIC AT ECHO POINT.

**SHORELINE CASTERS WILL GATHER AT THE EAST BOAT RAMP, HELP SHUTTLE BEFORE HEADING TO
CASTING POINTS. FISHING FROM SHORE CAN BE DONE ON THE EAST SHORELINE, RIPRAP ON OAHE DAM, MARINA, STILLING
BASIN, MARIEN GARDENS, GRIFFIN PARK.**


PICNIC LUNCH SERVED ABOUT 1:30 PM MST

BURGERS AND BRATS AND CHIPS AND COOKIES WILL BE SERVED.


FISHING GEAR TO BRING

WADERS

ROD --YOU CAN GET BY WITH A 5 WEIGHT. A BETTER CHOICE WOULD BE 6 OR 7 OR 8 WEIGHT--ABOUT 9 FT

EITHER FLOATING OR SINKING TIP LINE.

FLIES- A SELECTION OF DON'S BULLY BUGGERS OR OTHER CHARTREUSE STREAMERS

PONTOON BOAT(OPTIONAL)- FLOATING THE MISSOURI IN A PERSONAL PONTOON CAN BE DANGEROUS. THE DECISION TO FLOAT WILL BE DECIDED BY FLOW RELEASES FROM OAHE DAM.

FOR THOSE FLOATING WEARING A LIFEJACKET IS A MUST!

Sage Rod Raffle this weekend at Dakota Angler Open House


Sage TXL-F Rod Raffle to Benefit the Black Hills Fly Fishers

Andersen Sales has very generously donated a Sage TXL-F 7'10" 3 weight to be raffled off to benefit the Black Hills Fly Fishers. Please come out to support the club and to have a chance at winning this incredible fly rod.

Raffle tickets will be sold this Saturday at Dakota Angler & Outfitter's open house. Tickets will be sold from the store opening at 9:00am to the drawing at 4:00pm. Tickets are $5.

Materials needed for Kelly Galloup Classes

If you are attending any of Kelly's Tying Seminars and wish to tie along please bring the following materials:


 Cripples and Spinners Class
 
Galloup's Cripple
    Hook: standard dry #16
    Tail : Dyed olive hackle from side of neck
    Body: superfine brown olive dubbing or your favorite dry dubbing
    Wing: Crinkly Z-lon Dun or your favorite synthetic wing fiber
    Hackle :  Grizzly dyed olive neck hackle
 
Spinner
    Hook: Standard dry # 16
    Tail: Micro fibbets dun or light dun
    Body: Tan and rusty brown Superfine dubbing
    Wing: Crinkly Z-lon Dark or light dun  or your favorite synthetic
    Hackle: Dun or Rust hackle
  
Egg laying Caddis
    Egg Sack: Bright green superfine dubbing
    Body: Brown olive Superfine
    Wing: Crinkly Z-lon light dun
    Hackle: Partridge or grizzly hen hackle
 
 
Streamer Class
 
Cougar
    Hook 3X long streamer hook # 4
    Tail : Yellow marabou
    Body: Pearl Aunt Lydias sparkle braid or medium crystal chenille
    Under wing: White calf tail   
    Overwing: Large mallard flank dyed wood duck yellow
    Collar: Yellow natural deer hair ( not belly hair )
    Head : same as collar
 
 Sex Dungeon
    Rear hook:  # 6 ring eye hook 3X
    Tail: Black marabou , Red flashabou
    Body: black ice dub, or hare' e  ice dub
    Hackle: Black stung hackle or Schlappen
    Legs : Black and red flaked silli legs
   
    Front hook: # 2 , 3X long streamer hook
    connection .038 braided stainless wire. Beadalon wire you can get it at Michael's
    Beads: Red Killer glass beads Red
    Tail, body and hackle same as back hook
    Eyes: Red large lead eyes
    Collar: Black deer hair
    Head : Same as collar
